Project Echo
The layer above today's networks. Project Echo applies post-quantum encryption on your device and lets the messengers your friends already use carry ciphertext.
Ekko Privacy Lab
We build post-quantum communication for the platforms people use today and the networks that come next.
On May 8, 2026, Meta ended support for Instagram's optional end-to-end encrypted DMs. In Europe, lawmakers are again advancing measures that let providers scan private communications while a broader "Chat Control" framework remains under negotiation. Different decisions, same warning: privacy controlled by a platform can be changed by the platform.
Most messengers can promise privacy. Few make it architectural.
Even where encryption survives, the platform may control the client, the recovery path, or the keys themselves. It can keep a readable copy, change the rules, or expose plaintext to a breach, a demand, data mining, or AI training. A privacy setting is not the same as a privacy guarantee.
Ekko is an independent privacy lab building with post-quantum cryptography now, before it becomes another platform upgrade users have to wait for. We work across the stack so people can hold the keys, the identity, and the right to speak privately.
ONE LAB, THREE LAYERS
The layer above today's networks. Project Echo applies post-quantum encryption on your device and lets the messengers your friends already use carry ciphertext.
The layer below today's apps. Project Sonar explores metadata-private communication infrastructure, so developers can build systems where identity begins with a key a person holds.
The physical layer. Project Aster explores secure radio, satellite, and embedded links for IoT, AI agents, and the independent networks they will depend on.
THE LAB
Ekko is independent and privacy-first. We are moving toward open source because privacy claims should be inspectable, not merely trusted. There is no data business behind this: we are building software for the people using it, not the systems reading it.
Platforms will change. Governments will change. Your right to speak privately should not.
